About the Journal

Journal of Biosciences and Environmental Studies (JBES) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in the fields of biosciences, environmental studies, and related disciplines. JBES welcomes high-quality, original contributions, including research articles, review papers, case studies, short communications, and book reviews that address contemporary scientific challenges, environmental issues, and emerging trends globally.

The journal seeks to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to disseminate research that contributes to scientific understanding, policy development, and sustainable practices.

1. Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the journal’s submission system or by email at: jbes@wordastrajournals.com.
Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
Each submission should include a cover letter briefly highlighting the manuscript’s significance, originality, and relevance to JBES’s scope.

2. Manuscript Structure

a. Title Page

Include the following:

  • Title of the paper (clear, concise, and informative)

  • Full names of all authors

  • Institutional affiliations

  • ORCID iD (optional but encouraged)

  • Corresponding author’s email and phone number

b. Abstract

  • Concise summary of 150–250 words

  • Clearly state the purpose, methodology, main findings, and conclusions

c. Keywords

  • Provide 4–6 keywords for indexing and search optimization

d. Main Text (Research Articles)

Research articles should generally follow this structure:

  • Introduction

  • Literature Review / Theoretical Framework

  • Methodology

  • Results and Discussion

  • Conclusion and Recommendations

  • References

For review articles, case studies, or conceptual papers, authors may adapt headings to suit the content.

3. Formatting Requirements

  • Language: Clear and grammatically correct English (British or American), consistent throughout

  • Font & Spacing: Times New Roman, 12-point, 1.5 line spacing, fully justified

  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides

  • Length: 4,000–5,000 words (excluding references and appendices); longer papers may be considered with editorial approval

4. Referencing Style

JBES follows the APA 7th edition referencing style.

  • All in-text citations and references must comply strictly with APA guidelines

  • References should be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript

5. Tables and Figures

  • Number tables and figures sequentially

  • Provide clear titles and place them near their first mention in the text

  • Include source information for adapted content

  • Ensure high-quality, legible graphics

6. Plagiarism and Research Ethics

  • All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism; similarity scores above 25% may lead to rejection

  • Studies involving human or animal subjects must include ethical approval and informed consent

  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest

7. Authorship and Acknowledgments

  • Authorship is limited to those with substantial scholarly contributions

  • Contributions such as funding, technical support, or administrative assistance should be acknowledged separately

  • Any changes in authorship after submission require written consent from all authors

8. Peer Review Process

  • JBES employs a double-blind peer review system

  • Manuscripts should not include identifying information

  • Review cycle typically lasts 4–6 weeks

  • Editorial decisions may include: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject

9. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors must sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement upon acceptance

  • JBES operates under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, permitting sharing and adaptation with proper attribution

10. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • JBES is an open-access journal

  • A modest APC of 50 USD applies to support administration, peer review, publication, hosting, and indexing

  • Waivers or reductions may be granted at the editorial board’s discretion, especially for authors from low-income regions

11. Publication Frequency

  • JBES is published quarterly

  • Accepted papers may be released online as Articles in Press prior to the scheduled issue

  • Archived in PKP and Zenedo (DOI agency)
